Is Inflation Going to Surprise to the Aside?
The Fed has been filling the pipeline with inflation for well over a decade, and now we're just really seeing the consequences. We were in fact rising faster than 2%. We were just not getting accurate numbers from the government. A lot of that inflation was hiding in plain sight in assets,. It's just that nobody cared when they thought inflation was making them richer. They didn't start caring until it was making them poorer. The problem is a long time in the making and it's not going to be solved with a year of rate hikes.
