The History of George Washington's Blunder at the Forks of the Ohio

The father of our country turned out to be also the father of the prior military conflict. George Washington's blunder at the forks of the Ohio was a real cause for the French and Indian War. The backstory of that march was this episode where he is sent as a messenger to the French to warn them to get out. He encounters a party of 35 French and Canadian soldiers and instead of warning them, he sees them kind of sleeping in a ravine.
