Military Command - Is That a Realistic Scenario?

The war that i'm afraid of is a symmetrical warfare. The military will make a choice as a unit, and some one will be in control of the us Military,. And generals will go, but they won't take any forces with them. This is what tends to happen in civil war. It's not like the military breaks into two sides Like it's between insurgencies and counter urgencies. As american, you know, non has learned over 70 years, it really doesn't matter. There is no good counter insurgency strategyther that one does not use.
