Bernard argues that even free choice stands in need of a liberator, but one who would set it free. So hence his mini curdeus hamo. Why the incarnation? Well, because christ is the only one who possesses all three of these. He possesses freedom of nature by virtue of both his divinity and humanity. And this is how then he can be our redeemer.
