Olga visited Constantinople, the seat of power for the byzantine empire. She didn't come seeking war, but knowledge. The emperor was happy to instruct her about christianity. He taught her the tenets of the faith and he himself baptized her. Olga tried to convince her son to join the faith and convert the kieven rus at large. But it wouldn't be until olga's grandson that the kiven rus would convert.
