Is There a Difference Between Nazarite and Nazarene in the Old Testament?
Ri: The term nazarite and nazarene, as it' spelled here, has only a one letter differentand john the baptist, as a nazarite, follows these verses exactlyy. Ri: One of the earliest commentators we have in the church on matthew is saint jerome. And he caught this because he knew hebrew, is that the term nazarios nazaree could be a play on the hebrew term neter, which is the term meaning shoot. So i don't know if we know for sure, but it works really well with the themes we've been seeing so far about son of david and of exile.
