Long snapping is one of those weird positions that you can work on and not be a giant or physically massive or strong. I always tell high school students, learn o long snap, cause, number one, i could get your college scholarship. If you can snap two, three, four years in college at a top level, then you have a good chance to either be drafted by the ennefel or get a shot after the draft through what we call an undrafted free agent. It's basically just dropping an engine into the car. And then it's like, oh my gosh, i've got this fantastic form, and now look at i've got a v 12 engine.
Adam Smith famously argued that specialization is the key to prosperity. In the N.F.L., the long snapper is proof of that argument. Just in time for the Super Bowl, here’s everything there is to know about a job that didn’t used to exist.
