Your body is going to disregulate when your seven year old won't stop crying. It teaches him that ing is not allowed, that crying makes mammerdad super upset. And so your son loses the ability to tolerate and integrate the big emotions that make him cry in the first place. Your parents tolerate your crying as a child, and now you cannot tolerate your son's crying. So summary, your parenting failures are often bound up in your story. engaging your own story is a pre requisite to being able to enlarge your window of tolerance and regulate your own affect while interacting with your children.
