The Great Terror of 1938
There were 30,000 gulags in total and they were all spread across the whole Soviet Union. Prisoners would be killed by a firing squad just because others were killed in mobile gas chambers. Some had even slower, more painful deaths, like in those bug boxes. More from starvation or just for being worked to death.
