Introduction

Peter Madsen was a Danish inventor and self-taught engineer. In 2008, he launched the UC3 Nautilus submarine in Copenhagen Harbor. The vessel weighed over 40 tons and measured almost 60 feet. Nine years after its maiden voyage, the acclaimed submarine became a crime scene. On August 10, 2017, the Nautilus dove into the depths of the Baltic Sea with two people on board; only one resurfaced.
