The Role of Academics in Distrust

Some of that is because I do think academics are actually genuinely contemptuous toward people who disagree politically with the majority of academia. And some of it is just because I think people can perceive contempt if they feel they're being treated like their group is beneath consideration. So you're saying that people view academics as being contemptuous and this causes people to dismiss academics unfairly? I think it causes them to distrust academics. It's rational to distrust someone who holds you in contempt or a group that hold you in contempt, especially if they have power.
