What Do We Know About Churdic?
Churdic was the founder of the House of Wessex, but he wasn't influential enough to be listed as a Brettwalda. archaeological record indicates there were Saxon settlements present in the area before Churdic's arrival. Some sites show signs of continuity of occupation between the Romano-British era and the Anglo-Saxon era.
