How is it that New Amsterdam exists for almost 60 years in their midst? It's a big question. The English and the Dutch were pursuing colonies around the world in the 1600s. There was always friction, but they were very much aware of one another. Then later in the life of the colony, the English say, wait a second. We have to reorganize things in North America.
