The Third Kind of Auctions
Auctioneer picks a price higher than any one wants to pay, and then starts going down backwards, lowering the price until some one says, i'll take it. The advantage of this sort of auction is that the fear of missing out is palpable. It might someone jump sooner than they ordinarily would. And the fourth kind is the famous dutch auction, which we don't see that much any more.
