The Future of Solar Storms
Astronomers have developed a machine learning algorithm that is able to watch the sun detect a flare and then predict how bad it will be when it reaches Earth. So now, antenna extended, ESA's juice mission is ready to do science in 2031, a warning before a solar storm disaster. Solar storms can interfere with satellites, with electrical grids, cause power outages.
