Autism and Touch Receptors in the Skin
More than 95% of children with autism have some degree of overreactivity or underreactivity in one or more sensory domain. Does our sense of touch alter as we go through life? Do we pretty much maintain because obviously other senses can degrade? Is touch the same? While the sense of touch is functional at birth and indeed in utero, it is by no means mature.
