Did Trump Trust the Secret Service?

After the fact we can say with certainty that the defence of pence was sufficient, right? Because pense actually lived and was not directly assaulted. What did trump know? Did he trust the secret service to tect pence, and therefore believed there was no real danger? Did he also think the republicans just talk that way?
