The History of the Society of Jesuits

Every year, from rome, Ignatius and his assistants responded to the questions and concerns that had been raised by missionaries in the field. The result of all this written communication was oneof the largest archives to issue from a single non governmental organization in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Parts of these extensive archives are now in vatican or italian ate collections, but most of the documents have found their way back to the headquarters of the society of jesus in Rome.
