The Murdochs don't tend to do things unless they feel really threatened. Lachlan was saying that he was up at night, couldn't sleep because of the ratings issues at Fox News in the aftermath of the election. He believes in the power and the place of Fox News as a an alternative to what they see as the overwhelming liberal media. And it has the biggest audience and makes their money off of serving a largely overlooked segment of the media consumer market.
