This aly reminds me of a contrast with another period in our history, in the late 18 fifties, of the lincistdun lincoln douglas debates in illinois. People would pack out theatres, churches, debate halls where these took place between l Lincoln and another presidential candidate. Some of these debates would last for like seven hours with a breakl. The level of political discourse was high enough that these were average citizens in illinois who not only were there, they packed it out,. And it they were thinking, whom i going to vote for?
