The Rockies Make a Trade at the Deadline

The Rockies are perennially kind of confounding at the deadline or at least at many deadlines. I'm actually not sure which is more likely. Is it more likely that they want to part with someone in order to maybe get good at some point in the future? Or do they just talk themselves into being contenders even though they're ten games out and you like to revive? That's how Chris Bryant deciding happened as far as I can tell years and years earlier.
