The Goal of the Gnostics Is to Get Back to the Pleroma

The goal of the religion is to teach us how to escape. But we can't figure that out ourselves because we're just peons down here who've been created as prisons. And so there has to be some representative of the Pleroma and Eon have to come down to explain where we actually came from, who we are and where we came from. The big question then is, how does it work with Christ? Some Gnostics thought that Christ, the man Jesus, was just a divine Eon who simply looked like a human being.
