The Importance of Network Motifs in Biology
Cambridge University professor of biology is famous for his work on biological circuits. His research has focused on what he calls network motifs which are recurring instances of very simple subgraphs or circuits. Each pattern it had a specific biological function or as a an information processing function so there's an evolutionary pressure that we think again and again to make the same kind of logical or informational processing functions but each time on a different system inside the cell.
