The Passover in the Synoptic Gospels
Jesus eats the passover with his disciples before he is arrested. In john, as in the synoptic accounts, it would seem that this occurredon friday. The question then is not what day of the week this occurred on, but how it relates to the celebration of the passover. An important consideration here is that the different gospel accounts have their differing purposes. This fits into john's theology more generally, which connects jesus with the lamb of god, the passover lamb that is sacrificed for the people. Such a theology is also seen in places like first corinthians where paul speaks about christ as our passover sacrifice for us.
