The Immediacy of Hell

Dante feels that he's learned his great first great lesson in hell and enthusiastically says you know I saw I understood. Virgil chastises him for speaking too soon but Dante kind of bows his head and feels full of shame then the reality of the place therein overwhelms him once more. In its immediacy let me just read a few more lines about these souls those souls there naked in despair changed color and their teeth began to chatter at the sound of this announcement of their doom.
