CHAPTER

The Future of DBT

Is there a world in which want DBT to be able to support that type of production and criticality? I think you're entirely appropriate in putting DBT largely in the bucket of supporting workloads today. But it's an interesting question that I've decided upon over the next five to 10-year time frame, if that's the right path.

I didn't really pay much attention to it. I didn't even know, you know, it was fine. It was a film, whatever. Going back and watching it now, you start to question the, like, the morality of
Speaker 1
the film. Yeah. And then I
Speaker 2
was watching this guy who was once a fucking pilot for NASA, who was like trained for everything and then forces beyond his control and now forced him to
Speaker 1
be a farmer and a father. And like he's good
Speaker 2
at both. Is it enough for him? Like, is it enough to sort of
Speaker 1
keep him not interested? But you know what I mean? Like excited. Yeah. So are you saying that there's a part of him that goes off because he wants to go off? I think and be the pilot that he was trained to be.
Speaker 2
I think there's a lot of mistakes that he's trying to fix. And there's a lot of looking in the rear view mirror going, I think I can fix that. Which going back to where I am right now is a lot of looking back on what I have done and going,
Speaker 1
oh shit, that was a mistake. That was a mistake. Yeah. And that was a mistake. Except for I have no fifth dimensional
Speaker 2
option to fix my mistakes or try and like go back and fucking sort of. Sure.
Speaker 1
But I have to fundamentally disagree with the concept of him fixing a mistake in the Professor Bran tells him this earth is going to die. The corn is the last crop we have. It's going to be like your child is going to grow up to see the plot of the road in real time. Yeah, they're going to suffocate. They're going to suffocate and die. The only potential chance that you have to save your child's life is to abandon your child possibly forever. Yes. And the fucked up thing is, is he's a good enough father to realize he can't tell his kids why he's leaving in case he fails. Yes. Because if he leaves going, this place is going to suffocate and die. I'm going to go off and try and fix it. And then doesn't fix it that he's ruined what little life they can have on this dying planet.
Speaker 2
Definitely.
