In 19 73, a pole by the baptist standard news journal found that 90 % of texas baptists believed the state's abortion laws were too restrictive. In 19 79, a larry lewis picks up a newspaper that listed the southern baptist convention alongside the unitarian church as supportive of abortion. When lewis became h m b home mission board president in 19 87, one of his first actions was to create the office of abortion alternatives for crisis pregnancy sinners.
