The academic achievement and the academic self-concept are both causative of each other so that's one the big fish little pond effect and the internal frame of reference thing. School average achievement can have a negative effect on your academic self- concept but it also has positive effects in other ways such as college attendance or occupational aspirations. The fact of being in a in a good school alone because of your group of peers will reduce your self-concept in such a way that it will have anegative effect on your educational aspirations, he says.
