The New Prophecy and the Holy Spirit
The montanists believed that the holy spirit could clear up ambiguities in scripture. Many of them lived at a village called pepusa, which they made into a kind of utopia. They were preparing for an imminent end times. Other christians largely saw them as heretical and tried to suppress them. But they also did attract influence from writers such as tertullian who argued against gnostics.
