The Lissenko Affair

There are several episodes of recognizably different and impactful ways of going at these questions within cultural traditions. For instance, during the Cold War in Russia, Russian scientists developed different approaches to both physics and biology. We aren't familiar with the Lissenko affair and that sort of stuff. But it can definitely happen that different cultural traditions, even though people are pursuing the same general questions, get at it in a completely different way.
