Chris: It's hard to imagine zombies or beings who aren't conscious, but otherwise are completely like us and act like us. Rob: I agree that killing the piece zombies is bad for many of the reasons that I gave. Chris: How would you evaluate whether conscious states are good or bad if they don't have any affect associated with them? Matt: Maybe we can sell them by moving towards a view where consciousness matters to some degree independent of its valence.
