Episode 276: Neurology VMR – Lethargy and Myoclonus
The Clinical Problem Solvers

Is Myoclonus a Sickulation or a Clonus?
Myoclonus is movement of a muscle across a joint. If it's all over the body, as it can be in some conditions, it really looks like there's little electric shocks coming from all over and things are jumping around. It usually doesn't move the muscle across the joint; you just see the motor fibers, muscle fibers twitching. Creutzfeld yachup disease often has myoclonus, although it is, um, not always there or nonspecific for that condition. Structural lesions causing Myoclonus would be juvenile myoclonic epilepsy with three Hertz spike and wave discharges (JME)
