The Negative Effects of Generational Groupings

Generations don't seem to be identity groups or are they? They are for some people but not others. We're not as clearly defined by these types of groupings as we are by say age or educational status, our gender or our ethnicity. There is an identity attached to these generational groupings. A lot of it is cliche and stereotype. Equally there are real things that shaped your life that are related to when you were born even if you don't actually identify with the term. It's actually my generation X has kind of escaped most of this. As someone said the forgotten generation we are too boring for anyone to hate which is quite nice for us.
