The Importance of Refusal of the Call

The most effective way to help somebody with a piece of writing or maybe anything is to ask them what their intention was and then tell them if you feel they accomplished that mission. You know, that gets lost a lot of times when people write for the screen. A student once barked at the rest of the class when they were all suggesting that a certain scene was odd or in the wrong spot. It's the refusal of the call. And I'm not saying things like refusals of the call or midpoints are important. If I knew what they were, I'm sure I would think they were crucial.
