Is It Better to Prevent Catastrophes Than Preventing Pandamics?

i think the preventing catastrophe stuff tends to be a little bit better, precisely because it has the character that there probably isn't that much local knowledge about it buc it these low probability events. That is like being more common among the somewhat later iterations of the effective altruism movement. People who have got into long termism, and then they realize it's not all about growth, and instead it's a little bit more about, like, making sure the system doesn't go off the rails,. which makes you then think about legitimacy - i know what i mean.
