The Tragedy Bridle

The gossip bridle was a contraption made of metal and leather, which enclosed a quarrelsome woman's head and placed in her mouth a spiked bridle. They also had another torture for assertive and rebellious women called the cocking stool or the ducking stool. And you could also be brought to court and fined for scolding your husband. This is like the same punishment that they give to witches. But i guess gossip is like a really important part of this, because female friendship specifically, were one of the targets of the witch hunts.
