The OBR say that to get debt falling now requires fiscal policy to be even tighter because of the higher debt interest. So he's actually having to try really hard just to get debt effectively flatlining. And it would take something quite dramatic to put it on a decisively falling path over the next few years, or indeed into the medium term.
