The hearing kicked off with Chairwoman Kathy McMorris Rogers expressing her support for a ban. The top Democrat on the panel echoed some of the China concerns, but also focused a lot around broader concerns about data privacy practices across the tech sector. We heard from both that while they have concerns about the Chinese ownership of bike dance and effectively TikTok, that they still have broader concerns about the industry. Some of the practices that not only TikTok perform, but other American social media companies.
