The dad hated cats, sure, but even more he hated this cat. He couldn't just come in and take the cat, though that thing was his daughter's favorite pet. The mum said, good luck if you try to get rid of the cat. The cat wiull just come back. It'll stay away if it's dead. Cats have magic, you know. That cat, it's got to go. I don't like the way he looks at us, studying us."
