Free Range Egg Producers - What's the Cost of Feed and Energy?
Free range egg producers are losing forty pence for every dozen eggs sold. The average margin before the cost of borrowing and building a house for the hens lost now is 20 p agans, a profit of 13 if you take account of finance and depreciation. Every single one of them is considering reducing how many eggs that they produce because there's no more money to be made from it.
