The History of Statistics

Chris: The driving contemporary reality is a world in which algorithms are increasingly shaping our political and personal and professional realities for a lot of people a large fraction of their reality is delivered in the palm of their hand via an algorithm how did we get there so you don't necessarily need to help the story of everyone who was ever a statistician. Chris: We take the word statistics which enters English language in 1770 and is about statecraft it has nothing to do with data or numbers whatsoever but that's a fun story to tell. And then we look at the point where statistics gets taken up for social causes and people started thinking how can we use these mathematical tools to do an analysis of moral subjects
