Red Mud - It's a Thing
The pH value of this red mud was 13 which is extremely basic so if this touches your skin it will burn you and like huge sores all over you. 10 people died in the initial flow or people trying to get from one place to another and not understanding what kind of liquid they were dealing with i'm assuming something like that came into play here.
