Thomas Malthus: A Devout Christian and Professor of Political Economy
Thomas Robert Malthus was an 18th century cleric and a professor of political economy. He lived at a time when the emerging capitalist system was really driving manufacturing, but also left a significant portion of Britain's population desperately poor. There were all kinds of debates across Europe and particularly the American colonies about benefits or harms of a growing population to the state.
