When I first became involved in crypto back in 2014, there were companies like BitPaser who were setting up on the basis of Bitcoin. The narrative then was that Bitcoin would actually solve a lot of remittance problems. But issues like fluctuating value of Bitcoin, the regulatory situation and so on meant that Bitcoin based solutions didn't take off in this way. And although there's been a huge adoption in terms of cryptos generally, certainly in Africa, people aren't using them for remittances on the scale that maybe I would have expected by now.
