What Does God Exercise His Sovereignty?

When I was in seminary and I was reading Jonathan Edwards, the freedom of the will. What it really means is you just don't feel composed. And that really fried my egg. But what worried me about studying all that and studying all that reform theology, what kept getting hammered home again and again was the adjectives God is sovereign. That cannot be true. He's sovereign. He's only other. He's this. He's that. We may seem to have actual viable choices and life, but really we don't. Really we don't because it's all fate or predetermination or whatever.
