The Predernatural Gifts
In the western tradition of theology, articulated by the capidotian fathers and then later on, developed also by St. Thomas Aquinas, there are something called the predernatural gifts. These are special gifts of grace given to the first human beings. This is a supernatural gift. It's not natural. And that tracks with the text, because if you look at Genesis 3, one of the punishments is that they're ejected from the garden,. The spinning swords of fire, the seraphim, so that they can't be able to have access to the tree of life and continue to live.
