Anemia in Surgical Patients

This chapter emphasizes the importance of not dismissing low hemoglobin levels in surgical patients without considering the context and etiology of the anemia, particularly in populations such as colorectal, IBD, and gynecologic patients. It discusses the effectiveness of IV iron in correcting iron deficiency anemia and the significance of identifying the cause of anemia for patient's longitudinal health.
