The Importance of Cognitive Science

I think that cognitive scientists in particular are well positioned to push back on nonsense about AI hype because we and I'm including linguists among cognitive scientists. And so if people are making claims that these so-called AI systems are doing cognitive tasks, then cognitive scientists are well position to say, no, you've made a simplified mockery of what that task is. But we have to do it in a way that's accessible to the public. Hey, watch out for this stuff. You don't know where it comes from. It could lock in certain forms of bias. Did I just say that again?
