The Pocket of Intelligibility

Science is hard, and there are such little pockets of intelligibility everywhere that we ought to use every tool available to us. Nancy Cartwright's main point in his book from the 1980s is that you can't necessarily extrapolate from how particles behave in a gas chamber to how they behave in the room. Right. And so again, the pocket ofelligibility is this isolated set up, few, just a few particles, when you know there are so many in the room with us.
