The Importance of Understanding Your Parents

Most of the Japanese American, Ikutramah, in my house is from your parents. That was beautifully done by a true Japanese landscape architect. My father's part in the garden was that he did the construction. So it's an interesting journey. And when you talk about how they weren't at least openly racist when you were growing up, and that you maybe should have given the more benefit of the doubt. It would be weird if they didn't have racist notions, by the way. Oh, yes, it would have been weird.
